A windy weekend...

Okay.
Everyone who reads this blog knows me well, and therefore probably also knows that I am a highly sensitive person (HSP, it's a real thing)...to pretty much everything...but especially to weather conditions.
The weather element I am perhaps most bothered by is wind.
I cannot handle wind, it hurts my ears.

Which is why Julian was laughing at me as I glared out the window at the rapidly waving flags marking the zoo entrance on Saturday morning.
Wind. It ruins everything.

HSC, watch out world. And yes we have a bit of a Starbucks obsession in our family.
 Also.
It might be too early to tell, but we have a strong suspicion that Max takes after me a bit and is a highly sensitive child  (HSC, also a real thing, just ask google).
I'm not sure if he picked up on my distress over the wind on Saturday morning or if he has already developed his own distaste for wind, but he was one broody little fellow.
Otherwise, all the makings of a great day were present...we met Uncle Chris, Jenny, and Nana for one last get together before their flight back to St. Louis.

HSC did not want to hand on the monkey bars.
Brother does P90x now.
And takes important Dr. calls.
Now that we are members, we go to the zoo so often that the trips are starting to all blur together.
This will forever be remembered as the day we saw one potentially rabid goose attack another. And we saw sleeping bears. And rode the train.
And, of course, it was windy.

think they look alike?

Eli enjoyed this trip because his latest accomplishment has been making animal noises. He walks around with his stuffed Indy imitation saying "woof woof" for  much of the day. He also says "meow" for kitties, "ooh ah" for monkeys, (insert elephant noise) for elephants, and growls for bears and lions.
It was very sweet to hear him assigning the appropriate sounds to the zoo animals.

So, basically the non-sensitive people had a great day at the zoo while us sensitive people only whined a little and ended up enjoying ourselves too.
After a lunch at Chipotle and some frozen yogurt we sent Chris and Jenny on their way, off to Italy and Greece, poor things :D

Thankfully once we got the boys home and down for a nap, I met Nicole for some girl time at Starbucks. My third coffee of the day, pumpkin bread, and good conversation all helped me recover from our earlier adventures.

Today, the wind continued and Julian knew better than to take me outside.
Instead, I got a nice break to read and relax while he took the boys to the park.
He even sent me pictures of their trip and showed me how much fun you can have out in the wind.
Nice. try.

He said he even took the picture at this angle so he could get the sun burst in there.
Just when you think you can't love someone any more, they go and surprise you.

Otherwise we had a quiet home day, it was one of the first days in a long time where we didn't have anything on the schedule. We are about a week and a half into our new "TV free" lifestyle, and even though we didn't watch much before, it does feel like there is more time in the day.
The boys napped, we took a trip to the grocery store, Max got a haircut, and we had a nice family dinner and lots of play time.
It was a nice lazy, albeit windy, Sunday.

dirty birdy right before bath time
