I think Max must have gotten a memo of some sort this week.
Just as we near his third birthday, he has started with a new perplexing behavior.
Talking back.
He has always been a bit of a hitter/pusher...not good, but a pretty typical boy response to frustration. It's something I'm used to dealing with.
I was not prepared for what I heard as I walked down the hallway after tucking him in for a nap a few days ago.
"Mommy, YOU have serious PROBLEMS!"
What?
Did my two-year-old just say that?
And that's not even the worst of it.
His favorite the past couple of days has been, "YOU don't have the POWER to STOP ME."
I wish I could also describe the face and tone that come with the delivery of this message.
It's equal parts scary and funny.
I've heard from many seasoned parents, "If you thought the terrible twos were hard, just wait for three..." and I am starting to believe it.
I also think this might mean it's time to head to the bookstore for a new round of parenting books...
----------
Also, we had big plans with friends this week, something to keep me occupied during the first ever "leave Max alone at music class" drop-off.
Coffee shop, park, fun things.
Wait a second...is that?
Why isn't Max in music class!?
Yep, could not do it.
It's been quite a week around here.
Happy Friday all!
