On Sunday, we celebrated 6 years of marriage.
We had originally planned on ordering dinner in and celebrating after the boys went to bed, but our friends insisted that we go out for a date and offered to watch the boys.
Brave souls.
We were a little unsure, as this is the first time we have ever left the boys and gone out just the two of us, but after some coaxing we took them up on their offer.
I'm so glad we did.
We were beaming ear to ear throughout the entire dinner.
After more than three years, it felt amazing to be out at a nice restaurant enjoying our meal and uninterrupted conversation.
Of course, we ended up mostly talking about the boys, but we also spent some time reminiscing over the past 6 years and articulating how grateful we are for each other and our marriage.
Even after 11 years together, some things never change.
I am a creature of habit and always order the margherita pizza if it's on the menu, Julian loves to be adventurous and try out the specials.
I imagine this will be how our celebratory dinners go as we hopefully grow old and gray together.
According to April and Sean, these two even behaved themselves.
We so appreciate this kind offer and some much needed adult time, thank you April and Sean!
We are determined not to let 3 more years pass before we go out again.
Our day finished with a beautiful sunset.
Cheers to 6 years!
----------
I saved this little post to write just for tonight.
To give me something to do besides anticipating tomorrow morning when I have to drop Max off at preschool.
Any confidence I had was shaken when he woke up about an hour ago and called us to his room to ask if Eli will be going to preschool tomorrow too.
When we said that he would be going alone, he informed us that he wants Eli to come along, that Eli wants to go with him.
Queue the first of likely many tears to come in the next 24 hours.
I am feeling a little fight or flighty...well, mostly flighty.
I have definitely Googled some at home preschool curricula...I was trained to be a teacher after all.
I also find myself thinking, "He doesn't have to start this year", as we are leaning towards starting him in kindergarten as one of the oldest in the class rather than the youngest.
But the truth is, he's ready.
And that's what really matters.
I am praying for some extra strength tomorrow.
